The oils on canvas called Genoa, belong to the same period in my life as the Genoa pastels. Much of what was painted at this time draws its inspiration, as with the pastels, from a random selection of sketchbook drawings. I chose to give the series of both pastels and oil paintings the collective title, Genoa, as my art studio stands on a street of that name. The title Genoa serves only as a means of identification. The inspiration for each series was derived from the array of sketches made by me prior to a very bleak period in my life.
